چکیده

We study the roles of message components in authentication protocols. In particular, we investigate how a certain component contributes to the task of achieving entity authentication. To this aim, we isolate a core set of roles that enables us to extract general principles that should be followed to avoid attacks. We then formalize these principles in terms of rules for protocol parties and we prove that protocols designed according to these rules will achieve entity authen-

A TESLA-based mutual authentication protocol for GSM networks

The widespread use of wireless cellular networks has made security an ever increasing concern. GSM is the most popular wireless cellular standard, but security is an issue. The most critical weakness in the GSM protocol is the use of one-way entity authentication, i.e., only the mobile station is authenticated by the network. This creates many security problems including vulnerability against m...

ارائه طرح احراز اصالت سبک با قابلیت گمنامی و اعتماد در اینترنت اشیا

The Internet of Things (IoT), is a new concept that its emergence has caused ubiquity of sensors in the human life. All data are collected, processed, and transmitted by these sensors. As the number of sensors increases,   the first challenge in establishing a secure connection is authentication between sensors. Anonymity, lightweight, and trust between entities are other main issues that shoul...

OUTLINE 1 – Authentication Introducing

Authentication is the process by which the identity of an entity is validated. Authenticating entities present credentials, such as passwords or certificates, as evidence of their identity. The entity is deemed authentic where presented credentials are valid and sufficient. Note that authentication does not determine which entities should be given access, but only verifies that an entity is who...

Provably Repairing the ISO / IEC 9798 Standard for Entity

We formally analyze the family of entity authentication protocols defined by the ISO/IEC 9798 standard and find numerous weaknesses, both old and new, including some that violate even the most basic authentication guarantees. We analyze the cause of these weaknesses, propose repaired versions of the protocols, and provide automated, machine-checked proofs of their correctness. From an engineeri...
